Beaches and Walking

28 January 2022 by Stephen Probert
We have some of the best beaches in Wales, and 186 glorious miles of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park to explore, why not base yourself at our Shepherd’s Hut in St David’s and explore our fabulous coastline.
Whitesands Beach

Overlooked by the imposing craggy hill of Carn Llidi, this wide expanse of fine white sand curves north towards the remote rocky headland of St Davids Head.

Wyncliffe Hideaway is only 5 minutes drive away from this fabulous beach, known as one of the best surfing beaches in the country!

Newgale Beach

Newgale beach is famous for its two mile stretch of gloriously golden sand. With its ‘large surf’, it is considered by many one of the best places to take to the board.

Only 15 minutes drive from St Davids, Newgale is another stunning beach just waiting for you to explore.

Caerfai bay

A small rocky cove at high tide, sandwiched between towering cliffs 1 mile south of St Davids. The rocks around Caerfai are multicoloured with a mixture of grey, green and vivid pink.
At low tide, a sandy beach is revealed with plenty of rock pools to explore.

Only a mile away by foot this is a lovely beach at low tide to spend the day with a picnic.

The Blue Lagoon - Abereiddy

Pebbles and extraordinarily dark sand made of pounded grey slate form this rural beach.
The same slate gives a brilliant deep blue colour to the water in the ‘Blue Lagoon’; a beautiful little harbour – a breached quarry – just to the north of the beach.
Head North by car for about 3 miles from the hut.

This beautiful walk is a 16.6 kilometer loop trail located from the centre of St. David’s, Pembrokeshire, Wales that features a river and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and bird watching.
The route for this walk starts and ends pretty much from our location at Wyncliffe Hideaway!
